Your Mission

  • The purpose of this position is to establish and maintain medical safety oversight for the KARL STORZ product portfolio to ensure user and patient safety throughout the product lifecycle
  • You play a key role in assessing customer/user risk and evaluating the actual or potential impact of product performance issues on patient safety
  • Based on your medical expertise, you will assess product risk/benefit, provide medical input and review: Risk Management, Product Issue Assessment/Health Hazard Assessments, Clinical Evaluation Reports and Safety Signal Investigations
  • You will review and provide input into: mitigation strategies, labelling and materials aimed at minimizing patient risk and improving outcomes, including external communications
  • You will ensure appropriate metrics to evaluate patient safety processes, represent product safety views and lead in a matrix environment through scientific expertise and organizational influence
  • You will continuously contribute to and review the product harm and hazard list, ensuring consistency in the severity of harm determinations throughout the risk management process, pre- and post-marketing
  • You will promote safety awareness and patient-centered thinking throughout the global KARL STORZ organization
  • As a member of the global Medical Scientific Affairs group, you will work closely with Risk Management, Post-Market Surveillance and other functions including Product Management and R&D
  • You will report directly to the Chief Medical Officer

Your Talents

  • Medical degree or comparable education
  • At least 5 years of clinical experience, preferably in surgical or interventional field
  • Industry experience desired, preferably in medical devices
  • High level of medical competence, with an ability to balance this with industry standards to achieve business goals
  • Strong scientific analytical reasoning skills and good communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple complex projects in parallel
  • English language skills required, German language desired
  • Willingness and ability to travel: up to 20%
