Be the Trusted Expert Behind Successful Surgical Procedures

KARL STORZ is seeking a Surgical Operational Efficiency Specialist (SOES) to support our customers in the Austin, TX area. This highly visible, hands‑on role places you directly in hospital environments—supporting surgeons, nurses, sterile processing, and biomedical teams to ensure minimally invasive surgical (M.I.S.) equipment is always ready when it matters most.

As an integral member of the KARL STORZ Service team, you’ll manage, maintain, and troubleshoot surgical instruments, video systems, and integrated OR (OR1®) technology—helping surgical teams focus on patient care, not equipment challenges.

This role is also a proven stepping‑stone for internal career growth into Sales, Marketing, Leadership, and other advancement opportunities within KARL STORZ.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide face‑to‑face support in the OR, Sterile Processing (SPD), and Biomed departments
  • Manage and perform preventive maintenance on endoscopy and M.I.S. equipment, ensuring readiness and documentation of functionality
  • Monitor equipment condition, usage, and performance; facilitate repair and exchange transactions
  • Track and manage repair and replacement costs within an assigned account budget
  • Deliver training and education for OR, SPD, and hospital support teams
  • Design and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce repair expenses
  • Identify opportunities to minimize instrument damage and related costs
  • Capture and document detailed device usage and repair data
  • Support implementation and adoption of reusable M.I.S. products, from training through procedural support
  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of hospital and internal stakeholders
  • Perform complex, time‑sensitive tasks independently in fast‑paced, high‑pressure environments
  • In some accounts, assist with transporting, cleaning, and packaging instruments after use
  • Participate in broader operational initiatives focused on cost reduction and added customer value

At the core, your mission is simple—but critical: ensure M.I.S. procedures run smoothly by keeping equipment reliable, available, and efficient.

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with relevant experience
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Comfort working in hospital and surgical environments
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs
  • Willingness to participate in a rotating on‑call schedule

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in:
    • Surgical Technology
    • Sterile Processing / Central Sterile
    • Medical device sales, service, or healthcare operations

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Combination of physical and mental demands in a clinical setting
  • Frequent interaction with hospital staff and internal teams
  • Independent work with specialized decision‑making
  • Up to 5% travel annually

Why Join KARL STORZ?

  • Make a direct impact on patient care and surgical outcomes
  • Gain hands‑on experience with advanced surgical and OR integration technology
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals across multiple disciplines
  • Build a career pathway with strong internal advancement opportunities
