I.  Job Purpose and Job Duties  

 

Reporting to the Region Manager of Onsite Service, the primary responsibility of this role is to provide on-site, hands-on client support of KARL STORZ’s MultiLASE TFL and Urology medical devices (including hand instruments and video equipment) for the role’s assigned clients (hospital or surgery center). This role will be primarily working with the client’s Urology Department and Endourological Operating Room team members. OES positions often pave the way to internal career advancement opportunities in areas such as Sales, Marketing, Leadership, and more.

 

 

II.  Job Duties

 

  • Arrive to cases on time and prepared, ensuring safe transport of sterile supplies.
  • Complete the necessary arrangements of the O.R. suite prior to surgical procedure by testing and cleaning equipment, ensuring the sterilization and proper set up of equipment is complete prior to scheduled procedure.
  • Perform pre-operative checklists, equipment testing, laser calibrations, and required paperwork prior to case start.
  • Review procedure requirements with surgeons and staff before the case.
  • Ensure proper handling of lasers and equipment before, during, after procedures.
  • Provide staff with necessary disposables needed in conjunction with MultiLase TFL.
  • Maintain operational readiness of lasers, urology instruments, equipment and supplies so they are always in excellent working order and ready for use.
  • Keep repairs and replacement equipment expenses within a predetermined budget for the account; preventative maintenance on all KARL STORZ Urology devices.
  • In the Urology suites: troubleshoot video and instrument issues; inspection of the instruments and documentation of their functionality.
  • Remove, clean, and disinfect all KARL STORZ EndoUrology equipment after surgical procedure.
  • Return equipment to respective storage, clean, in proper order ready to use. Ensure unused disposable are returned to stock and all equipment is put away.
  • Monitoring, reporting, and facilitating repair/ exchange transactions; Process all paperwork (i.e. Work Orders, Purchase Orders, and Inventory) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Keep abreast of trends in laser technology and related techniques through continued education.
  • Identifying process improvement opportunities and designing workflows to improve efficiencies and reduce repair cost.
  • Provide in-services and education related to EndoUrology surgical services.
  • Obtain and maintain Laser Safety and Certification requirements as required by KARL STORZ
  • Maintain a professional and courteous relationship with client staff, co-workers, and management at all times.

 

II. Minimum Knowledge, Education and Skill Requirements

     

Required

 

  • Our successful candidate will have excellent written and spoken English business communication skills. They will also have demonstrated success working in a collaborative, service-oriented team environment.
  • A minimum education level of a high-school diploma
  • 0-4 years of experience in medical device (including hand instruments and video equipment) repair, sales, or services management
  • Possess exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • MS Office - proficient user as the role will need to work with Excel spreadsheets and reporting
  • Role requires the completion of a drug screening for safety-sensitive positions
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time, as well as being able to ben and reach repeatedly

 

Preferred

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
  • Preferred experience working in surgical laser tech field
  • Laser Safety Officer Certified
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification
  • Certified Surgical Technologist
