About the Role

The Field AV Installation Technician plays a critical role in delivering cutting-edge integrated operating room solutions to healthcare facilities across North America. This hands-on field position is responsible for deploying audio-visual, network-based, and software-enabled operating room integration systems within hospital and surgical environments. Working alongside a team of specialists and a Site Lead, you will help build the digital infrastructure that powers modern operating rooms through equipment installation, cabling, system configuration, and testing. This role is ideal for individuals with experience in AV installation, structured cabling, networking, or technical field services who enjoy travel, problem-solving, and supporting technologies that improve patient care.

 

Location: Remote, field-based role with openings in Washington DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Nashville, Atlanta, Detroit, and Orlando.

Travel: Up to 80% travel throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Travel to hospitals, operating rooms, laboratories, and surgery centers is required.

Schedule: Flexible hours may be required to meet customer and project needs, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends.

 

What You'll Do

  • Deploy integrated operating room systems by installing, routing, terminating, and managing audio-visual, network, control, and power cabling.
  • Configure software, network-connected devices, image capture systems, and supporting technologies that enable advanced operating room functionality.
  • Partner with Site Leads and deployment teams to complete installations safely, efficiently, and in accordance with KARL STORZ installation standards, SOPs, and SLAs.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, hospital personnel, project teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Utilize mobile technology, computers, and software applications to complete documentation, expense reporting, timesheets, credentialing requirements, and project records.
  • Follow hospital protocols, safety requirements, and credentialing standards while working in sensitive healthcare environments.
  • Participate in ongoing technical training programs to develop expertise in KARL STORZ OR integration systems, networking technologies, and deployment best practices.

 

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in structured cabling, audio-visual systems, networking, field service, low-voltage installation, medical device deployment, or a related technical field.
  • Experience pulling, terminating, and managing cables in commercial, healthcare, or technology environments.
  • Ability to use technical tools and equipment, including crimp tools, soldering equipment, voltmeters, and related installation tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused mindset.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Ability to travel extensively and maintain all required hospital and healthcare credentialing requirements.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in hospitals, operating rooms, healthcare construction projects, or Integrated OR environments.
  • Basic understanding of fiber optic, CAT5/6, coaxial, copper, and multi-conductor cabling.
  • Experience mounting displays, speakers, racks, and other professional AV equipment.
  • Familiarity with control systems, network-connected devices, video routing systems, amplifiers, and recording solutions.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, installation drawings, and technical documentation.
