About the Role
As an SAP Solution Architect, you will serve as the technical leader for SAP development across both on-premise and cloud environments, driving the design, architecture, and delivery of enterprise SAP solutions that support critical business operations. You'll partner with business stakeholders, functional analysts, infrastructure teams, and external vendors to build scalable, secure, and innovative SAP solutions while ensuring alignment with SAP best practices and KARL STORZ development standards.
This role combines hands-on development expertise with enterprise architecture responsibilities, requiring deep knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, ABAP, Fiori, UI5, SAP BTP, and cloud integrations. You'll also mentor offshore development teams, lead technical design initiatives, and help shape the future of our SAP landscape.
This role follows a hybrid work schedule, with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote. Domestic travel up to 20% with occasional international travel may be required.
What You'll Do
- Design, architect, and deliver SAP technical solutions across SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business Suite, and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
- Partner with business stakeholders and functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Lead technical design sessions and oversee the development of custom SAP applications, RICEFW objects, interfaces, and integrations.
- Develop and enhance SAP applications using ABAP, Fiori, UI5, OData, RAP, CAP, and modern SAP development frameworks.
- Manage SAP system upgrades, releases, environment synchronization, transport management, and technical support activities.
- Lead code reviews, establish development standards, and ensure high-quality, maintainable SAP solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues through root cause analysis while improving system performance and stability.
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Basis, and Cloud teams to support enterprise SAP operations.
- Manage technical delivery for custom development, integrations, data migration, and cloud transformation initiatives.
- Mentor offshore development teams and ensure successful project execution while maintaining SAP best practices.
- Evaluate emerging SAP technologies and recommend innovative solutions that improve business processes and operational efficiency.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- 15+ years of SAP technical development experience supporting enterprise SAP environments.
- Expert-level experience with SAP ABAP, SAP S/4HANA, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Fiori, UI5, and SAP Cloud Integration.
- Extensive experience developing RICEFW objects, custom enhancements, interfaces, workflows, reports, and forms.
- Strong understanding of SAP architecture, Clean Core principles, cloud technologies, and enterprise integration strategies.
- Experience integrating SAP with enterprise applications using SAP CPI, MuleSoft, Salesforce, APIs, and web services.
- Hands-on experience with Eclipse, Business Application Studio (BAS), Web IDE, RAP, CAP, CDS Views, and OData services.
- Proven ability to lead enterprise SAP projects while managing multiple priorities and technical stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both technical and business audiences.
What Will Make You Successful
- SAP Certifications in ABAP Development, SAP S/4HANA Development, or SAP Integration Suite.
- Experience with SAP Idoc/EDI integrations and common EDI transaction sets.
- Knowledge of Vistex, Esker, OpenText, Vertex, ProcessWeaver, or similar SAP ecosystem solutions.
- Experience implementing AI-driven solutions, intelligent automation, and emerging SAP technologies.
- Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring offshore development teams and driving technical excellence.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to influence enterprise architecture decisions and deliver scalable business solutions.
