I. POSITION SUMMARY
 

Under minimal supervision, provides design verification support for Karl Storz products to verify that they meet quality standards, including the design and execution of approved verification procedures, the execution of studies and troubleshooting in support of design engineering, and the training of other test engineers.

 

II. MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

 

  • B.S. degree in Electronics Technology/Engineering or related field with 3-5 years experience in technical and test engineering

  • MS degree in Electronics Technology/Engineering or related field with 0-3 years experience in technical and test engineering

  • Must have strong analytical skills and good technical report writing skills.

  • Must have good interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Familiarity with a high level programming language/software such as C#, Matlab, Lab View, or similar to assist in developing automated testing and data collection.

  • Familiarity with Environmental testing and equipment desired.

 

III. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

                                   

  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.

  • Must be punctual, able to sustain attendance guidelines, and work hours as assigned.

  • Cannot be colorblind.

  • Manual dexterity to work with small parts; good eyesight and hand to eye coordination.  Cannot be colorblind. 

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Driving on company business is required as part of this job.​​​​​​​

Design Verification Duties

  • Write design verification test plans
  • Write test procedures for the purposes of design verification
  • Run test procedures written by self and others.
  • Report test results to project leads.
  • Track issues found during testing.Provide input on the design of electrical, optical, and mechanical test fixtures.

 

Design Engineering Support Duties

 

  • Write design verification test plans

C. ENVIRONMENT, HEALTH AND SAFETY:

 

  • Must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all environmental and safety laws and regulations, including the Company’s environmental and safety policies and procedures.  Must be willing to report actual and potential environmental and safety violations to appropriate supervisory and/or management personnel.

  • The incumbent in this position is responsible for knowledge of and adherence to environmental policies and company procedures as they relate to ISO 14001.

  • Responsible for informing the Company if he/she is taking medications or if there are any other circumstances that would interfere with safe performance of job duties.

 

D. QUALITY

  • ​​​​​​​   The incumbent in this position is responsible for knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures as they relate to the requirements of FDA Quality System Regulation, ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 (current revisions).

 

E. INTERPERSONAL AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS

 

  • Must be able to maintain productive working relationships with co-workers.

  • Must treat fellow employees with respect.

  • It is each employee’s obligation to consistently treat visitors, external customers and all co-workers with courtesy and respect.

  • Work with Engineering staff, Manufacturing Engineers and staff, and Engineering Technical Services Manager - to request and provide information or services; to advise and solve technical problems.

  • Call or meet with Vendors/Application Engineers.

  • Assist Manager/Sr. Test Engineers in the evaluation of test equipment required to perform quality checks
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor
