The Senior Accountant supports month-end and year-end close, financial analysis and reporting, and the ongoing transformation of these processes. The role helps drive process improvement and shared service enhancements within the KARL STORZ internal controls framework—supporting business operations by streamlining end-to-end workflows, removing inefficiencies, and ensuring compliance.
The Senior Accountant will also serve as Accounting Lead for a KARL STORZ North America legal entity, including serving as the primary point of contact, reviewing financial results, preparing executive-facing analysis and commentary, and presenting key drivers to management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Prepare account reconciliations; investigate variances and resolve reconciling items.
- Produce high-quality financial analysis and commentary for management.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Prepare materials to support external auditors.
- Prepare and distribute recurring deliverables.
- Document SOPs for key accounting processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Lead assigned projects with strong follow-through.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Staff Accountants.
- Lead group training as needed.
- Perform GAAP research to support technical accounting memos.
- Use available tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Minimum Requirements
Experience
- 5+ years of relevant accounting experience (2+ years of public accounting preferred)
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting
Technical
- Strong understanding of financial accounting and G/L transactions
- Exposure to core accounting concepts
- Demonstrated ability to implement process improvements
- Strong understanding of GAAP
- Strong Excel skills
Skills / Competencies
- Strong analytical skills to analyze complex data and recommend/implement solutions
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently

Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days per week in office
