KARL STORZ U.S. is seeking an experienced Optical Assembly Technician III to perform complex optical glass assemblies and processing of rigid and single glass bundles for imaging systems in its Charlton, MA facility.

 

Hours:  5:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Building and processing optical glass assemblies and fiber optic bundles for imaging systems.
  • Performing moderately difficult assembly tasks on intricate optical and mechanical components.
  • Completing tracking, inventory, processing, and safety documentation as per established procedures.
  • Inspecting image glass assemblies for quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Operating and maintaining precision machinery, including small hand tools, power tools, and microscopes.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards, working in a cleanroom environment.
  • Processing fiber optic bundles and perform etching, grinding, and polishing tasks.
  • Meeting productivity and time standards while maintaining high-quality output.
  • Loading/unloading ovens, processing imaging bundles, and performing various other assembly tasks.
  • Continuously learning and applying new processes and procedures.

 

What you'll need to be considered:

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of experience in assembling precision medical products and machinery.
  • Experience with fiber optic bundle processing and/or complex imaging assemblies.
  • Strong knowledge of math and the ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools (micrometers, calipers).
  • Familiarity with solvents, microscopes, and cleanroom environments.
  • Computer literate and proficient with common applications.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs and work in a physically demanding environment.
  • Must be able to work in a Class 1000 cleanroom environment with full cleanroom outfitting.
  • Ability to climb stairs and perform detailed assembly work with a microscope for extended periods.
  • Attention to detail, strong visual acuity, and the ability to perform tasks with precision.
